Digital Photographer Yves Bodson at the Abbot Kinney Art Festival on the 26th of September 2004
For immediate release.
Venice, CA September 15, 2004. Belgium photographer, Yves Bodson dedicated to developing a unique original digital vision supported by mathematical models, was selected by the jury to show two of his most recent works at the Abbot Kinney Festival on the 26th of September. Yves is showcasing two very characteristic visions of nature by utilizing digital photography as a base to deliver art in new dimensions. The first piece named "Wide green fence" is an composition from 5 original photos stitched together so as to provide a new perspective from the subject. The new space generated contains all the original information but in a completely non traditional geometric space. The resulting effect is a visual peaceful space where the eye can explore and retrieve familiar elements but from a unusual perspective.
The second piece named "Wide Ocean Spray" is using the same technique but with only four photographs. It show waves spraying over rocks. Such a simple subject becomes a thundering vision where the water has been changed in a glass sculpture that explode in the visual space.
These artworks are original and unique, printed on archival paper and are warranty for 20 years at the least.
Yves Bodson, an economist by education, has practiced photography all along his life. Today, he merges the images he shoots with his “dream machine”, a Fuji S2, , using a set of mathematical models originated from scientific research. Yves keeps traveling across spaces farther than ever to discover and bring us back unique visions of dimensions and places that his explorations reveal as unique and original photographic images. His work is a visualization of dimensions built on the pixels from digital photography and abstract creations he produces.
In 1997, Yves engaged in writing his own applications that would become a stitching engine with extended capabilities such as matrix stitching, global and local optical adjustments etc. Building on that experience, Yves, over the years, did increase the capabilities of his software up to a point where he is able to generate very large images, in photo resolution, of realistic and abstract compositions seamlessly merged together.
Today Yves present to the public his most recent results from the quest of dimensions and spaces that he snapshot to bring back a photographic vision from these unique ‘locations.”
For the future Yves’ vision is to expand his exploration into mathematical spaces and bring us back visual witnessing of unique original locations and dimensions that only his art can reach and immobilize forever into traditional photography
Visuals for publication are available on request.
